Bubble Popped: Wisconsin
Hanging on by a thread – Wisconsin has been our “First Team Out” for the last few days – the Badgers looked nothing like an NCAA Tournament team in Wednesday’s 65-57 loss to Ohio State. The Buckeyes doubled up the Badgers at halftime and led by 27 points in the second half en route to the victory (Yes, Wisconsin cut the deficit to five late and missed a 3-pointer that would have made it a one possession game, but did anyone actually think Wisconsin was going to win?)
Ohio State, which entered the game 13-18, was actually a 2-point favorite in the game; that should tell you how Vegas viewed the Badgers. KenPom has the Buckeyes ranked No. 54 while the Badgers are No. 75.
Wisconsin was going to have to win at least two games in the Big Ten Tournament (the path would have been Ohio State and then Iowa) to have a realistic shot at the NCAA Tournament (likely the “First Four,”) but those dreams are gone.
